Gillibrand Named Sub-committee Chair
U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., on Tuesday announced her appointment to a leadership post that will be influential in the discussion of overhauling the milk pricing system.
Gillibrand was appointed chairwoman of the Senate Subcommittee on on Livestock, Dairy, Poultry, Marketing and Agriculture Security.
“New York’s dairy farmers are facing a crisis, and we cannot wait for the next Farm Bill to develop solutions,” Gillibrand said in a statement. “I look forward to correcting the outdated regulations and bad pricing structures that make it difficult for our nation’s agricultural sector to thrive.”
