8/29/11 Hurricane Irene Assessment

This morning, The US Coast Guard took me & Rep. Tim Bishop for an aerial survey of the damage done to Long Island's south shore by Hurricane Irene. Then I joined Rep. Nita Lowey, County Executive Rob Astorino & Mayor Doug French for a tour of the flood damage in Rye, NY. While there is extensive damage, I’m grateful it wasn’t far worse. On Wednesday, I'll visit the Catskills for an assessment of the damage there.
