Let undocumented immigrant students stay in the U.S., Sen. Gillibrand asks President Obama

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and 16 other lawmakers are asking President Obama to give undocumented immigrant students special permission to stay in the country.

Gillibrand - a sponsor of the stalled DREAM Act that would give green cards to undocumented college students - wrote to Obama urging him to let everyone who would qualify to stay in the U.S.

"We strongly believe that DREAM Act students should not be removed from the United States, because they have great potential to contribute to our country and children should not be punished for their parents' mistakes," they wrote.
