Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Kirsten Gillibrand for Senate in 2010 Election

Growing Number of Progressive, Pro-Choice Organizations Join Team Gillibrand
New York, NY - Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) today announced its endorsement of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand for election in 2010 at the recommendation and support of Planned Parenthood Advocates of New York (PPANY). In a letter to Senator Gillibrand, Planned Parenthood leadership praised Senator Gillibrand for her leadership and focus on issues important to woman and children.
Planned Parenthood joins a growing number of progressive, pro-choice organizations that have endorsed Kirsten Gillibrand's campaign, including NARAL Pro-Choice America, NARAL Pro-Choice New York, Emily's List, and Women's Campaign Forum. In the letter, Planned Parenthood leadership wrote the following:
During your time in the House and in five short months in the Senate, you have demonstrated consistent leadership on issues important to the women and families of New York State. You have focused on the needs of women including health care, child care affordability and fair pay, and you have been a steadfast supporter of access to confidential family planning services under Title X, the main funding source for family planning services to poor women across New York State. As a co-sponsor of the Prevention First Act and the REAL Act in Congress as both a House Member and Senator, you continue to show your commitment and dedication to voluntary family planning for all Americans.
And, as a mother, you understand the value of children having comprehensive, medically accurate, age-appropriate sex education. You are taking a leadership role in supporting President Obama's budget to fund education that will reduce unintended pregnancies and the incidence of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
In the Senate, Gillibrand has advanced an agenda broadly focused on the needs of women including health care, child care affordability and fair pay. She has been a steadfast supporter of access to confidential family planning services under Title X, the main funding source for family planning services to poor women across New York State. As a co-sponsor of the Prevention First Act and the REAL Act in Congress as both a House Member and Senator, Gillibrand continues to show her commitment and dedication to voluntary family planning for all Americans.
